Travel Grant Process and Conditions

The KBCCC scholarship fund will be able to offer travel grants to the KBCCC 2011 International Convention attendees in order that they can attend and present high quality posters. Applications will open with registration and must be submitted by Wednesday 1st December 2010. The following guidelines for KBCCC travel grants will apply.

Applicants must:

  1. Submit an abstract for the poster presentation.
  2. If a student nearing completion of studies, or a postdoctoral fellow provide a signed letter of referral from your supervisor. (complete KBCCC PDF ‘signed letter of referral’ and return to us).
  3. Obtain a visa for travel to Japan unless he/she is a citizen of a country that has a visa exemption agreement with Japan (priority will be given to those who already have a visa, if evidence of the visa is provided at the time of submission).

Other factors taken into account by the Award committee:

  1. Preference will be given to applicants that result in an increase in the number of countries represented at KBCCC 2011 International Convention.
  2. Preference will be given to practising scientists from developing nations.
  3. The amount of funding granted will depend upon travelling distance and must not exceed 150,000JPY and there will be a limit of 5 people granted travel allowances.

Acceptance process - Once an acceptance notice is received, candidates must:

  1. Immediately register and book accommodation.
  2. Obtain a visa to visit Japan for the conference no later than five weeks before the conference unless he/she is a citizen of a country that has a visa exemption agreement with Japan or risk having their offer withdrawn.

The organisers will:

  1. Make the decision by 15th December 2010. The travel grant awardees will be notified by email.
  2. Publish successful applicant’s names on the KBCCC web page.
  3. Distribute the travel grant as cash on arrival at the conference and collection of your papers from the registration desk.
