KBCCC Internatinal Convention 2011

Welcome Message

Let me take this opportunity to welcome you most sincerely to the Kyoto Breast Cancer Consensus Conference (KBCCC) 2011 International Convention. Through this international meeting we hope to build upon and develop the great successes already achieved over the past few years.

The core purpose of KBCCC is to gain a consensus amongst breast oncology experts as to optimum treatment methods. Through panel discussions, voting on key issues, and scientific questionnaires we are able to gather important data that, once analyzed and collated, is enormously useful and gives us the all important consensus we strive for. Lectures by experts from various fields, the introduction of clinical practice and the report of the questionnaire survey are scheduled to take place. Also during the conference period, a “consensus meeting” will be held. Last year, under the steady guidance of Professor Eric P. Winer, many consensus agreements were achieved on several key topics through voting and active discussions.

The conference theme this year is; “Axilliary diagnosis and treatment”, “Local treatment after preoperative systemic therapy” and “Nomogram and therapeutic algorithms for the local management of breast cancer”. We feel this topic covers new ground and we hope the lectures, panel discussions and data gathered will provide new insight into breast cancer treatment and move us forward to the all important consensus we need. Each new theme reviews the latest movements in breast cancer treatment and examines the current consensus. We will be most gratified if the consensus achieved at the conference leads in some small way to a better QOL (Quality of Life) of breast cancer patients around the world.

Please feel free to participate actively in all areas of the conference and remember to spare some time to explore the fine, traditional city of Kyoto.
